Francis Campbell

–

Red Bank, New Jersey

Francis Joseph Campbell, 77, of Red Bank, passed away at home on February 25, 2026.

Born on May 31, 1948, in Frankfurt, Germany, Francis carried a sharp intellect and a deeply curious spirit throughout his life. An attorney by profession, he was widely respected for his intelligence and command of language — not only in the law, but in history, literature, and nearly any subject that captured his interest.

He loved classical music and treasured his record collection. He was extremely proud of his running accomplishments and had endless track stories he would share with anyone willing to listen.

Francis loved a good pun (and perhaps an especially bad one). He was deeply proud of his Irish heritage, carrying that pride with humor, heart, and dignity. A lifelong lover of music, he brought it to life as a member of 'Frankie and Johnny', playing ski lodges, weddings, and other celebrations with energy and heart. He often reminisced fondly about the wonderful memories of Family Camp in the Poconos.

Francis is survived by his former wife, Wendy Adler; his daughters, Alison Davern and her husband Bryan, and Jessica Vroom and her husband Daniel. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Chase, Madison, Kirsten, Xavier, and Kennedy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Alan Campbell; Donald Campbell and his wife Michele; and Mary Liegey and her husband Gregory, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember his smile and quick wit.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Frank and Otillia Campbell.

A celebration of his life will take place on Monday, March 30th from 5pm - 9pm at The Marotti-Burns Funeral Home, 1022 Lacey Road, Lacey Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, a cause that greatly mattered to him.

His legacy lives on in the music he cherished, the history he preserved in memory, the words he loved so much, and the kindness he gave so freely.
