Berkeley Township, New Jersey
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marie Nobile, who entered into eternal rest on August 28, 2026, at the age of 94.
Marie was born on October 31, 1931 in Rosebank on Staten Island, New York to Achille and Michelena D'Urso. She was the second of four children, following her sister, Anne (pre-deceased), only brother, Arthur (pre-deceased), and younger sister, Linda. During her early years on Staten Island, Marie attended New Dorp High School and worked a variety of jobs, most memorably in the family-run restaurant, Marty's Drive-In and Moulin Rouge night club.
In 1954 Marie married her beloved husband, Alfred, whose marriage endured for over half a century until his passing in 2008. During their time together Marie and Al traveled to many destinations, attended numerous WWII Veteran Reunions, and hosted countless family gatherings and holidays in their loving home. Marie and Al moved to Millstone, New Jersey with their daughter Dee's family, where they all lived in the same home for 17 years. Marie later moved to Toms River, and finally, Bayville, New Jersey remaining only 10 minutes away from most of her family.
Marie enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, listening to her favorite music like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, sewing for her family, shopping, going out to lunch with her sister Linda and friends, and cooking for her family (especially their favorite items like her struffoli, Ash Wednesday pie, and Christmas Day lasagna). Marie worked diligently at keeping herself healthy, even walking her treadmill daily at 94 years old. Above all, Marie loved spending time with her beloved family, to whom she was incredibly generous. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to two of her siblings, Marie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Al. She leaves behind an extensive loving family, by whom she will never be forgotten, and is forever deeply loved and cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Marie's memory to Friends of the National WWII Memorial. For information on how to donate please visit wwiimemorialfriends.org .
